Get Up & Get Dressed

Often we hear people say Dress to Impress but who are these people whom we are dressing up for. Do we dress so that people find us attractive or Do we dress so that people admire our fashion sense or Do we simply dress up well for ourselves?

I personally, always feel much more confident when I pay heed to what I want to wear for a particular occasion. All of this thinking went for a toss when we were stuck in the walls of our house. At my home, my most treasured attire of all times is oversized T-shirt with a pair of shorts. This combination has always been my go to choice when I returned home from work or from a get-together.

When the lockdown began last year, I was happiest to know that I can spend more time with my preferred clothes all day long. Little did I know that I would get bored of them during this period of being trapped inside the house with no place to go to. During the initial period of the lockdown, I was super delighted with having the opportunity to wear what I found the most comfortable piece of clothing. Over a period of time I realised, not letting myself get all dressed up for doing my office work made me rather lethargic and not in the work mode. I was confused to acknowledge that my clothing added to the monotony that became a part of our lives.

One fine day, I decided to get all decked up and sit for work and I felt a huge difference in myself in terms of energy and confidence levels. I felt so much more in control of things and felt that I am ready to take on the world.I never knew just stimulating office like environment wherein we used to get into our best selves to show the world that we have arrived, just works wonders at home settings.

Dressing up at home may seem like an additional effort at first but it made me regain the right frame of mind by painting a tinch of hue into the otherwise black and white world that we are forced to live in right now. Such little changes do add up to our overall mental state and to be honest, imparts a much larger difference to our mood than we would anticipate.
